The Road to Happiness

I observed this morning as I opened the big glass sliding doors of my house to a warm windy outlook over the marina waters in front of my house, that happiness is like walking a path over hills. When you are at the top of the hill you see happiness like sunlight warm on your face and feel it glowing in your chest but then you continue walking and you are in a valley and Happiness is lost to you and the valley feels dark and cold. You forget what happiness feels like and your chest now aches, and there's a hole in the pit of your stomach. What you have to do is keep walking because happiness could be just around the next corner and then bam! there it is again, shining on your face and leaving you wondering how it was you ever felt differently? That's how happiness feels for me, it comes and goes sometimes it's fleeting but when it comes I am going to embrace it and allow myself to feel the full strength of its warmth on my soul. I'm going to take a moment to encapsulate the feeling and feel the moment, sharpen its image in every detail, make it vivid, so I can relive that moment for the rest of my life. Well, you know, happiness begets happiness?..... love and happiness to you all. Never give up hope. Don't be afraid to make changes to find happiness. Little baby steps, not necessarily huge 'leap off cliff" type changes! Little changes, little things – like the new song I downloaded today by Florence and the Machine (Dog days are over) - these are the things that make my spirits soar like an eagle on a air current.
